hooray for us, we have finally moved in. we moved most of our crap over on the weekend, and the rest of our boxes from storage should be getting delivered some time today.
we still have to unpack an awful lot of shit and get the bags and boxes out of the lounge room, but at least the stuff is there to be got at in the first place. can’t tell you how good it is to sleep in a proper bed that we don’t have to pull out of the wall and reconstruct every night before going to sleep. it’s great to have the bedroom seperate to the loungeroom for that matter, although a door on the bedroom is something that we might have to arrange in the not too distant future.
obviously from past postings, a pitfall of the swedish accommodation situation is that it can be inordinately hard to find somewhere to live, but on the plus side, if you manage to find a 1st hand contract (which we have) then you basically have the freedom to treat the place as your own. obviously there are limits and discretion still has to be used, but our landlady has invited us to paint walls, hang things and change stuff around to make the place feel as much like home as we can. her only proviso is that we run things by her first (paint colour, etc) just to make sure we’re not going too crazy. fair enough i think.

anna came in and signed everything yesterday and margie picked up the keys this afternoon.
i’m going over after work to have a bit of a look around and to see for myself how much room we have for the bed we have in mind.
i can’t explain how much of a relief it is to have all of this basically over and done with.
as usual, i know it’s been a while between updates, but i have been posting to the photoblog a bit more regularly. honest.
just over 3 months in, and we still don’t have the housing issue resolved. hopefully though, at 4pm today, that will all change. we have our prospective landlady coming in to the office to sign everything and then it will all be over. we think.i’ve been doing some work for our web traffic services team for the last couple of weeks which has been interesting. by web traffic services, i mean search engine optimisation and traffic analysis mostly. it’s got me back in a decidedly webby mood, which i haven’t really been in for a while. following a few very simple bits of seo ‘best practice’ (forgive me for the bullshit bingo) i’ve managed to get my little old photoblog to the number 1 spot for a chosen search phrase, and on the front page for another. i was rather chuffed with the result, since i was really only aiming to get on the front page, and there’s probably still more stuff i could do to improve further.
it’s got me thinking again about a redesign of this site, and maybe even incorporating something like movable type or word press. i guess that’s something i can think about tackling once we’ve settled into the new place.
