some of these fonts look a bit squiffy at higher resolutions i think. i particularly don’t like the look of the page title..very jaggy. will have to fix that over the weekend.
the idea of the ’side blog’ down the bottom there is an interesting one. essentially you nominate one of your post categories as your side blog, and those posts are then no longer shown in the main content section of the site, but are instead shuffled down the bottom. the benefit for me (and i’m not sure if it was created with this in mind or not) is to be able to keep some semi permanent, specific content on the page whilst still being able to post more general updates regularly.
for the moment i’ve just chosen photography as my side blog category, but if i think of a better use for it, i’ll set something else up later on.
you might also notice the rollovers look slightly broken in firefox. they seem to work okay with text, but the photoblog thumbnail rollover acts a bit weird. i thought it looked broken last night when i installed the theme, but after viewing the unaltered theme on the wordpress site, it seemed to work the same way. i just assumed it was an odd design choice. as it turns out, now that i view the site with explorer, the rollover doesn’t work correctly in firefox. don’t know if i can fix that, probably not. i don’t think it’s broken enough to really be of much concern anyways.
got the hump with a few of the problems with my old theme and seriously couldn’t be arsed fiddling about to fix them. far less fiddling around to pick a theme that someone else has gone to the trouble of designing and customise it slightly.
thought this had some nice autumn colours in it. as the tag line suggests, i’d like to stick a picture up the top there because it’s looking a bit flat, but i don’t think i have the right picture at the moment. maybe later.
finally got some anti spam stuff sorted out as well. the nice thing is, the solution works for both pixelpost and word press, so hopefully i’m all covered.
edit: no sooner had i found a theme that i thought i liked, i stumbled onto this one. it’s far nicer i think. i just wish i hadn’t decided to stay up and update it. past my bedtime now, but hey, it’s done.
our first snow has ended up about six inches deep and resulted in cars stuck all over the road and busses littering intersections all the way home. i also think my hair may be frozen.
apologies for the look on my face below, but i was concentrating on trying to take the picture, not fall on my ass or drop my phone in the snow.
edit: pics have buggered up my formatting so it would seem. looked okay when i posted from home. stupid monitor resolutions. i’ll have to look into that. anyways, links instead.
snowy, and grumpy looking me
snowy streets
first snow of the season today, and wind that sounds like it’s going to rip out the skylight in the roof above me.
might see if i can grab a pic later on if it’s not too dark.
