this was one of my favourites growing up in the 80s. i remember on a school trip to sydney i was looking in the (i think it was) virgin megastore at darling harbour, wanting to buy some music that i couldn’t get at home. i agonised for ages over which to buy out of a greatest hits compilation of huey lewis and the news, or a billy joel boxed set (these were cassettes by the way) containing his greatest hits, latest album (storm front) and an interview tape. i eventually decided to go with billy joel, which i still think was the right choice, but huey lewis remains one of my 80s pop favourites.

i was only going to post the first of these videos, but pizzicato five lead me inexorably to mint royale. so here firstly is baby love child by pizzicato five, and below, one of my favourites of 1999, mint royale’s don’t falter (featuring lauren laverne on the singamajig).

i’ve thought of a better use for this side blog. every now and again i find something on you tube (or elsewhere) that i think is worth sharing, so i’ve decided to stick those things down here instead of in the main body of the blog.
